Lovely vintage propaganda from 2 years into the cold war. Reads like the journal entries of a jilted teen.

Subject: Absurd
A good example of Cold War rhetoric at its height, with absurdities and blatant falsehoods littering the pages. As an example: on page 36 we read "Would Communists destroy the Bible? Every copy they could find." Yet on that page and the next two it talks of churches, preachers and congregations continuing to exist and sermonize! Of course, in the Soviet Union Bibles did exist and continued to be printed.
The fact a previous commentator sees Marxist propaganda in "Father Knows Best" reminds me of how the tale of Robin Hood was itself attacked as "Communist propaganda" during the 1950s.

Read the list and look at what's going on right now. Sounds like a corny conspiracy phrase, right? Wish it was. Too bad a lot of people still think that McCarthyism was a "scare" and the files that proved it was worse than McCarthy thought weren't released til the 1990s, but by then the damage was already done. To watch Hollywood films and a lot of TV shows it is obvious that Marxists placed their ideals strongly in the plots overtly, even in episodes of "Father Knows Best": a squatter steals items from cabins owned by wealthy families, gives stolen things as Xmas gifts to the family, thief/squatter is idealized as a modern-day "Santa Claus"(!). Read recent headlines and you find the exact same type of propaganda (the 'rich' as greedy dishonest folks and the poor as honest, kindly) all hail the "worker".

This a fantastic collection of historical documents. The sense of urgency and fear really shines through here. From an intellectual and historical perspective, I found it to be eye opening.

This is an amazing collection of insane phrases that could have only been published by the American government in the mid-20th century. You have to read it to believe it.
